Dental abscess problem please help?

2 weeks ago i went to a dentist due to severe pain in my teeth. He told me i had an abscess and did a root canal and gave me amoxicilin. I took the antibiotic for 2 weeks and there was no change untill the abscess started spreading and my face got really swollen. I went to the ER room and had an emergency surgery the next day for drainage. My problem is that the abscess has gone down but its mainly due to the drainage surgery. I have been on clyndamycin for 1 whole week now and i can feel the bump still in my mouth. My gums are still swollen. is there any other antibiotic anyone knows about that may help this?

Dental abscess problem please help?
It should not be a matter of more antibiotics, and I doubt if this will help you. In fact, you may just end back up in ER unless the cause of the continuing abscess has been properly addressed.

I suggest you go back to the dentist who did the RCT for a review, or perhaps someone else for a second opinion too.

It sounds like the RCT was done in one appointment? This carries more risk of failure than if spread over 2-3 appointments. Any swelling should have subsided BEFORE the RCT is COMPLETED.

LATER - YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS HAS NOT BEEN CONFIRMED AND I AM UNABLE TO REPLY TO YOUR DIRECT EMAIL THRU YA.
Reply:you need a follow up with your surgeon who did the drainage. and possibly the dentist. did they do a culture of the wound? you may need a different antibiotic but that is not for us to recommend, that is for your healthcare provider....ask them about warm salt water rinses and or heat packs to the affected area depending on where it is. good luck and speedy healling.
Reply:go and buy some alieve!! I swear its the best thing for abscesses
