Does your town or city give any free health programs already for the people that can't afford it?

Our town gives the school kids free lunches, free dental exams and free healtlh exams. The emergency room takes anyone in regardless of whether they can pay or not. Does yours or do you need more government control over it as Hillary and Moore suggests?

Yes, Denver/Colorado does. And actually, they did a better job at it before the Democrats took over. Now things are the same but the only difference is that the Democrats are now taxing me out of business.
Reply:Yes - I work for a non-profit medical foundation, so all the extra money we make gets recycled back into the medical community. With that, we do things like provide free health care to uninsured patients who are below the poverty line; and any uninsured patient (regardless of financial status) will never have to pay the full billed charges when they receive care in our hospitals.

All hospitals ER's take uninsured patients ~ which is part of the problem. Since people don't have insurance, they either go to the ER, or they wait until their symptoms get so bad, that they need to go to the ER. Either way, we end up paying more for their ER care than we would have if they were able to be seen by a regular doctor in the first place. Insurance companies make money by NOT paying people's claims. They try whatever they can to NOT pay your medical bills, so you, the patient, has to. That's not how heath care should work. It should not be used to make people rich at the expense of people's lives. I don't know what the solution should be, but our system now is broken and *something* needs to be done about it.
Reply:Yep, our ER (like theyre required to) takes in everyone regardless of ability to pay.

To pay for that, the cost is added to taxes, insurance, and hospital bills of people who do pay. Wouldnt it be better to take care of it up front instead of having to pay all of it anyway but after it has gotten out of hand and has to be paid at 2x or more the actual cost?

National Health care doesnt take care of more people, it takes care of the system.
Reply:At last another moderate! You know, 40 years ago in the U.S. city, state and county hospitals and clinics served pretty much the entire population and health insurance was the exception to the rule. The system was not perfect, but religious, charitable and teaching hospitals filled in the gaps quite well.

Today, the giant philanthropic hospitals are some of the biggest moneymakers out there and few if any are giving much care away for free.

It was actually the left, that's right, Democrats, who championed the end of public health care. Indeed they were tearing down some of the worse patient abuse in modern history, but the baby was thrown out with the bath water as losing these avenues of health care has been devastating and worse, the so-called mainstreaming of the mentally ill has proven a disaster.

Yes, my city has universal health care, weak, but in existence.
Reply:yes, my children have health insurance provided by the state for $15 a month.
Reply:Sounds like you are from out space. There is no such thing as free anything, the only question is who is paying for it! I believe you find people in general do better when they must make their own solutions and solve their own problems. Otherwise you end up like the Russians....before they woke up and smelled the coffee. Hillary and Moore are nothing more than communist!
