What happens if you..............?

Have no health insurance and something terrible happens to you like a major injury or cancer or something? How do you get treated? Or do you even get treated?

Does anyone here work in a hospital billing department or with social services and could tell me. It's something I worry about constantly as there have been times when I've had no insurance. What about dental emergencies?

I live in Texas, in case that matters.

Thanks a whole bunch!

What happens if you..............?
You're going to have a huge medical bill.

But I'd say try to apply for some gov't assistance. Get ins through them.

You're not going to be turned away if you're dying.
Reply:Please understand that my information is incomplete, but I am under the impression that by law they cannot turn you away and not treat you ....or send you away without some sort of reference to another facility, if the situation is not an emergency ....
Reply:If you have an emergency you will still be treated. But you'll get a HUGE bill for it later. As far as dental goes, you can still get work done. You might look for a clinic that supports non-insured and there are regular dentists that will treat you and work with you on payments. Also, you should look for a medical clinic for the low-income. I'm not sure where you live. But here in Oregon there's a Planned Parenthood that'll treat pregnancy issues as well as check-ups and STD screening. Hope this is helpful.
